Forest and Woodland Themed Activities for toddlers and Preschoolers

Why not head to the forest and carry out this simple Forest Scavenger Hunt Activity with your Toddlers and Preschoolers.
It includes a FREE Printable which is available in our store plus some tips for doing it with your little ones.

If you don’t want to take a printable scavenger hunt with you, you can just head out on a woodland nature walk with your tots.
Don’t forget to look up and down. You’ll never know what you will find.

Inspired by our favourite forest tale The Gruffalo when you head to the forest why not go on a Gruffalo hunt.
See if you can find a log pile, owls home or other features from the book.

One of our favourite activities to do in the woods is to build a den. Even our big kids enjoy this and they love helping the little ones to build the best den possible.

Along with the Gruffalo lots of the kids favourite fairy tales are set in the woods. So why not spend some time recreating some of those with some Forest Fairy Story Telling.
Activities to do when you Return from the Forest with Your Toddlers and Preschoolers

We love count and clip cards and this simple set of forest animal count and clip cards is ideal to use for counting practice when you get home from the woods.

Why not use some of the pinecones you’ve collected and either make some simple pinecone owls like the image above.
Or some pinecone bumble bees like below.

With the leaves you that you pick up you can always make some sun prints. This is a fun activity and you can create all sorts of wonderful patterns and shapes doing it with your toddlers.

After going on a Gruffalo hunt in the woods why not make a Gruffalo Sensory Bin that you can continue the fun at home for a while with your toddlers and preschoolers.
