Selecting gifts for Baby’s First Christmas can be very difficult, in the stores there are masses and masses of must have toys to help develop fine motor, gross motor, speech, language and keep babies entertained so that you can do things whilst they have fun and I’m not saying that those gifts don’t have a place but it’s also nice to get special gifts that carry on giving, create memories or are lifelong gifts for Baby’s First Christmas – well any Christmas at that.
Personalised First Christmas Art Work
Make the first Christmas Special by having a personalised First Christmas Artwork created just for the baby. Our Sponsor Little Love Notes produces amazing Art Work in the shape of a Christmas Tree.
Instead of buying board books get some Children’s classics that can first be read to the child and then as they get older are favourites that can then be read by them.
A Nativity Set
A Nativity set may only be brought out once a year for Christmas, but it is something that forms part of the most magical time of the year for a child and therefore it’s a gift that continues to give year after year. The set above is from John Lewis in the UK but a search of Amazon there are many many more that you can find to suit your budget.
Traditional Teddy Bear
Even now well into my 30’s I have Bears that I have saved from my childhood as does my husband. Some we received when we were first born and others for our first Christmas. They are prized possessions and well loved.
The start of a college Fund
It may seem a long long long way off but why not give a gift for the future and instead of buying a gift for a Baby that could be a few days old to 11 and a bit months old but really hasn’t got a clue what is going on. Give some money and instructions to open a college saving fund for the Baby so over the next 18 years further money can be added and they will be well on their way to going off to college when the time comes.
Why not start off a Christmas Book collection – again with the same theory as the Nativity Set that it will be brought out year after year and something that children will remember from their childhood. You could even give it with the suggestion to start a Book Worm Advent Calendar for next year. Remember when you give the gift to add a book plate to the front with the year and who gave them the book as well as a small message to them from the year that you gave the gift.
