Pumpkin Pie Fraction Snap

Fractions can be one of the concepts that children struggle with the most in math – from understanding equivalent fractions like 2/4 is the same as 1/2 and 1 whole is 8/8 to sum’s containing fractions and how to add and subtract. Setting the foundations in the first few years of school is essential and it’s great to do that through games and other hands-on activities. Today I’m sharing our Pumpkin Pie Fraction Game which can either be played as “Snap” or as a Memory Game.

These Magnetic Fraction Tiles from Learning Resources are a great way to help children understand some of the fractions – I would combine these strips with a set of Fraction Circles so your child can understand that fractions can be a portion of anything rather than just a rectangle.

I liked using this with individual magnetic dry erase whiteboards.

This multi-player Fraction Formula game is great for students to play together reviewing fractions as they race to fill up in the tubes based on the different fraction cards that they pull out.
