It’s that time of year when we start to plan for summer. For us, in the UK it’s only 6 weeks long and won’t start until the end of July, but I know my friends and family in the USA will finish very soon. May or early June and then…. there are long hot summer days to fill. But after a year break, we are back with the Virtual Book Club Summer Camp. This will be the 4th year we have run this fun and education summer camp for kids and this year it is even better than ever.
Virtual Book Club Summer Camp
If you are a regular reader of Rainy Day Mum you will know that each week we host a Virtual Book Club for Kids. Where we take a theme, find a popular children’s book and then share activities, crafts, and recipes based around that theme with you. But what you may have missed is the highly successful Virtual Book Club for Kids Summer Camp.
It’s 3 weeks of books based activities for kids and before we’ve worked with the ages of 2 – 5 but this year we are extending it and now the summer camp covers ages 18 months through to 8 years old!
The Camp in a Nut Shell
The Virtual Book Club Summer Camp is a 3-week camp that you can run at home for your kids.
Each week is themed and this year I have to say we have pushed the boat out with themes that we know the kids and you will LOVE.
But we don’t leave you leading it blind instead we are on hand providing you with support in a private Facebook Group, activity plans, supply list, book lists, camp planners, suggestions of additional themed activities and 36 new activities from the camp organisers.
Camp starts on 12th June for 3 weeks however as you have all of the materials and emails there you can spread out the camp over the summer, focus on just one week if that is one that takes your child’s imagination soaring or join us for those dedicated weeks. It’s up to you but you need to register.
Who is leading the camp
As in previous years, the camp is being led by 3 specialists and for the first time we’re each focusing on a specific age range that is our field of expertise providing you with hands-on learning, crafts and more for that age range.
Toddlers ~ 18 months to 3 years
Kristina from Toddler Approved will be leading this age group, from 18 months to 3 years old she is an expert, a mom of 4 and an early years teacher she is planning and producing activities that the kids will want to do again and again.
Preschool ~ 3 years to 6 years
Our preschool activities are being planned and produced by Kim of The Educators Spin on It! She is an early years specialist, a mom of 3 and author of the popular Fun and Easy Learning Games for Kids.
School Aged ~ 6 years to 8 years
I will be leading the activities for the 6 to 8-year-olds. As a primary and secondary school teacher and with 2 kids of my own one 6 and the other 8 they will be trying and testing these activities so they will be Kid Approved Fun for summer never guessing they are learning along the way.
Before you make a decision whether you will be joining us for the summer here’s an outline of the camp:
