As Mother’s Day approaches it’s time to make a DIY card with your toddlers and preschoolers. This easy-stamped card is simple to make and you can get older preschoolers to write their own message or with a toddler write it for them. Mother’s Day Card Ideas for Kids

This is an easy craft for kids of all ages but especially your youngest members of the family.

If you are a Mom and reading this – then before you make the card for a grandmother, godmother or favourite aunt why not send the link to your partner or a grandparent to make with your tot for you!

We made it with multiple ages of children, a tiny tot that we helped, a toddler and then an older preschooler.

They will have great fun with your homemade stamp and expect lots of flowers for you to cut out. Once we had some we then left the children to stamp to their heart’s content as an activity in its self.

• Different colors of Ready Mixed Paint
• Plastic Drinks Bottles with dimpled bottom like a Coca-Cola Bottle we used 2 different sized bottles
• Buttons
• White paper
• Coloured Card Blanks
• Glue stick

How to Make the Homemade Mother’s Day Card with Kids

We started off setting up our art area outside – a baby, a toddler and a preschooler all working in the same area with an adult to support the baby and an adult to help with the toddler and the preschooler working on her own.

With the paint in some paper bowls, we made sure that there was as least a bottle each for the kids to reduce arguments and they set about printing on large sheets of paper.  They made as many prints as possible on the paper as some of them weren’t as clear as possible.

Whilst the older children printed the baby set about making hand prints and feeling the paint turning her painting into a sensory experience and an ideal opportunity to work with children of different ages.

With the paper set aside to dry the older kids set about making hand prints as well.

Once the prints were dry they glued a button on the centre of each full flower and then I cut around the outside of the bottle bottom print to make a flower.

To create the card we folded a piece of card in half and then cut a different coloured piece of card to sit on the front and glued that in place.

With the glue on the flowers dry the kids then glued them around the outside of the piece of coloured card to create a border of the printed flowers.

Once they were dry I wrote on the top “To Mum” and the kids wrote inside their names or a version of their names.
