Nature inspired activities for tots
Whether you are in Spring or Autumn Nature is at it’s fullest right now where you are and this week we are featuring Nature Based Activities for Tots from babies to the just 5’s there’s lots of play, crafts and learning to be done.
First off Peakle Pie is taking a Fairy Walk and doing some story telling with their little tot. I love the combination of photography and story telling, and what better way to follow up a fairy walk than with some leaf fairies.
One of the things we have noticed on our walk to school is the spiders webs and extending this learning Fantastic Fun and Learning is painting with Spiders this week.
Sow, sprout, play have been playing with nature this week and what a fantastic mix some homemade spice paints and painting with natural objects perfect for some process based art for your tots as well as well as creating this fantastic mud dough – I know that my two would love this and it’s on our weekly plan for this week.
After a fall walk with the wind blowing and collecting leaves then this Autumn Leaf Sun Catcher from Two of Everything is a great activity for tots to do.
Playdough is a great activity for helping with fine motor skills and combining with natural objects expands the experience as Two of Everything is doing with some of their pumpkin seeds this week.
Another great activity for combining nature and fine motor skills is over on How Wee Learn with some nature based threading activities.
Sorting and identifying objects is a great way to focus kids observational skills and over on Wildflower Ramblings they have some great leaf identification cards and activities.
Even the very youngest children can be inspired with nature and over on School Time Snippets the Babies are exploring natural objects.
Using Nature objects for story telling is a fantastic activity and this story telling box from Create with your hands is perfect for some Autumn themed story telling for your tots.
One of our favourite Autumn themed books is Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert and this activity from Educational Arts and Crafts is perfect to bring the book alive.
Taking the learning outside and getting activity at the same time is always great but adding in some nature scavenger hunting and you have this Number Nature Scavenger Hunt from Makeovers and Motherhood – can’t wait to try this with my two.
Painting and Playdough with Natural objects is great for Tots and over on Mama Von Teacher they are exploring with both this week.
