Jam Making with Kids

Using our Jam Maker we set about getting the kids to weigh out the different ingredients for the Jam – we used Sugar Cubes this time as literally any sugar can be used with strawberries, sugar cubes are easy for the kids to handle.

Then we squeezed the lemon and put everything into the jam maker and set it, according to the instructions.

Whilst it was working we washed the jam jars and put them into a hot oven to sterilise. When the jam was ready and we tested it to see if it would set we poured it into the contains and left it to cool down whilst the children played.

With kids I like to use digital scales as well as more traditional scales. This help them to read numbers especially when they are learning to count and measure.

The embedded recipe is wrong! Waaaaay to much flour,, why have two recipes on one page!

    1. Thank you I hadn’t noticed the typo there – the recipe card is on the page to make it easy to print for those that like to cook without a tablet or phone nearby and did have the correct quantity of flour in which is 225g whereas in the simple ingredients list before the recipe there was an error where 800g had been written.

We like to provide both options for readers as have been asked for printable versions for those that use these recipes in settings and in their classrooms when cooking with kids.
