g
unsalted butter
softened to room temperature
375
g
icing sugar
3
tbsp.
double cream
1
tsp.
vanilla extract
neon food colouring gels
black gel food colouring
silver edible mist
pearl lustre dust
Instructions
In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together the butter, icing sugar, vanilla, and double cream until combined and smooth and stiff peaks form
Divide the frosting up between 5 bowls.
Mix one colour into 1 bowl each and until combined. We find this easiest to do using a toothpick.
You'll need to add more black gel food colouring to get the black to be a darker shade for your space cupcakes.
Place the piping bag into a large glass and fold the sides over the edge to provide an easy way to fill the bag.
Using an angled spatula, scoop black icing onto 3 sides of the piping bag.
Alternating between the 4 remaining colours, scoop 2 tablespoons of the colour icing into the piping bag on the side you have left free of black.
Frost the cooled cupcakes using a star-shaped nozzle.
Lightly spray the frosting with the edible dust when finished.
Dip a small paintbrush into the pearl dust.
Using your finger, run it along the bristles of the brush to allow the dust to splatter onto the icing on top of the cakes.
