We’re joining in with another Book Club – this time organised by Jill at Enchanted HomeSchooling Mom and this first month kicks off with the theme – Knights, Princesses and Castles so we’ve spent some time reading some of our knightly tales.
Sir Charlie Stinky Socks
We discovered Sir Charlie Stinky Socks in the autumn and have continued to love the books – by far our favourite is Sir Charlie Stinky Socks and the Tale of Two Treasures with an adventure to discover treasure mistaken identity and huge fold outs it’s perfect for J (3 and a half) and I to read together.
We love looking at the castle basement in the pictures as Sir Charlie Stinky Socks (or is it?) navigates through puzzles and tries to find the treasures. The twist at the end is perfect for adding that element of surprise (well surprise reading it for the first time – when it’s the tenth time in the day I’m not sure how much surprise I can really inject into the reading but J still seems surprised!)
We’ve been revisiting some of our old crafts as well while reading it – Our Knights Helmet has been remade with party bags from T’s birthday party last weekend.
We’ve also been making shields like we did for The Knight and the Dragon now with Dragons and snakes on them – J’s drawing skills have really developed over the last few months.
Love the colorful helmets and shields!
I love those helmets!
