Simple and Cute Easter Chick Fairy Cakes for Kids

Why not get your kids in the kitchen this spring or for Easter and make some of these cute little Chick cupcakes. They are so simple to make, look great and more importantly they taste great too. So here you go a simple chick cupcake for your kids to make.

Spring and Easter Cupcakes to Cook with Kids

Baking is one of my favourite activities to do with the kids at home on a rainy day and ever since they were toddlers I have been cooking and baking with my two. From cakes to bread and even meals many hours have been spent in the kitchen.

But asked what they want to bake they will also say little fairy cakes or cupcakes. The recipe is one that they know off my heart and it is so easy to make then they can decorate them as they wish.

These little spring chick cupcakes are perfect for this time of year and even your little ones can decorate them to look like little Easter chicks. So let’s get baking. You will find a printable recipe card below to make it easier to cook together.

Ingredients for your Easter Chick Fairy Cakes

Fairy Cake Ingredients

  • 125g of unsalted butter or soft baking margarine
  • 125g of caster sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 large eggs
  • 125g of self raising flour sifted
  • 2 tablespoon of milk
  • 1/2 cup of rainbow Sprinkles

Decorating Ingredients

  • Icing Sugar (Powdered Sugar)
  • Water
  • Yellow food colouring
  • Raisins
  • Orange M&Ms

How to Make your Easter Cupcakes

1 Preheat the oven to 180C and fill a muffin tin with cupcake cases.

2 In a large mixing bowl mix together your butter and sugar till it is creamy.

3 Add in the vanilla extract and eggs and combine.

Mixing eggs and vanilla extract with creamed butter and sugar to make fairy cakes.

4 Add your self raising flour and mix together well.

5 To this batter mix add in your 2 tablespoons of milk and the rainbow sprinkles.

6 Pour the batter into the cases.

Set of 6 fairy cakes in a cake pan ready to go in the oven.

7 Then place in the oven and cook for 15 to 20 minutes until the cakes are lightly golden.

8 Allow them to cool completely before decorating.

How to Decorate your Spring Chick Fairy Cakes

1 Mix the icing sugar and water together till you have a thick consistency, you are going to dip these cakes not pour the icing on.

Add yellow food colouring to the icing and stir to mix.

Dip the top of each cupcake in the icing. Hold the cupcake upside down over the bowl to allow extra icing to drip off.
