Rainbow sticky art

It’s been raining again (what a surprise for the UK) but because of the sunny days as well we’ve had a few rainbows – so following on from our rainbow painting we decided to get sticky and created a rainbow using paper.

What you need to make a sticky rainbow

Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet paper
White PVA Glue
White Card Stock

I also drew a rainbow with some crayons to remind him of the colour sequence.

How you make a sticky rainbow

We searched through my paper folder (I used to make a lot of cards so have a lot of paper) and found some paper of the colours of the rainbow. I then cut it up for him into small squares and we sorted it into colour piles on the table.

J has now become proficient at using a glue spatula rather than a brush for gluing and asks for one each time we do gluing. He glued each piece and then put it on the paper.

It was interesting to see how J put together the rainbow – instead of putting all red, then orange he did a segment of the rainbow, so red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet (although he missed out indigo as told me it was blue sometimes and purple other times) and then moved on to do the next segment.
