Quick and Easy Hummus Recipe
With the weather finally playing ball in the UK and our garden with a lawn I took my own advice and decided to have a little get together with some friends over the weekend. Using inspiration from the quick and easy summer appetisers I wrote last week I suggested some ideas that we could get together and cook. A friend stopped and suggested that she bring over the ingredients to make this ever so simple Hummus recipe that a friend from South Africa had taught her and I agreed. So here it is our quick and easy onion and garlic Hummus Recipe perfect as a summer appetiser or dip to share with friends and family.
Quick and Easy Hummus Recipe
Now most hummus recipes I have tried involve Tahini paste – it’s not something that I keep in my cupboard as I only use it the once or twice that I make Hummus as I literally have no idea what else to use it for. However, my friend reassured me that this wouldn’t need it or anything else apart from some really basic ingredients that I knew that I had in the kitchen cupboard. The most important is a small can of chickpeas, which I try and keep in stock as I do like them with a salad sometimes. If you are in the USA then chickpeas = Garbanzos I’ve never seen them called that over here.
Remember to scroll down and you will find your printable recipe card so that you can add this to your recipe binder perfect for when you want a quick dip to share with others.

One of my most used kitchen gadgets is my hand blender, whisk and chopper. Mine is old, I got it when I was 18 before I headed off to university to make the cooking there a little easier but as it’s starting to fail I’m looking at this Kitchen Aid blender with 3 speeds – it does everything that I need and I like the look of it as well! Plus it’s got a long cord which will come in handy when the plug points are in the wrong parts of the kitchen!
We’ve just added this to our kitchen after deciding that maybe in the middle of the summer needed a different serving dish for dips than our Christmas dish! I loved that this Serving Dishes and Dip Bowl set raises it off the table and puts the dip higher. It’s also ceramic and metal which for me is better than plastic as it’s better for the environment.
When I had to replace our plastic measuring spoons last year I decided to switch them to this metal set of measuring spoons and cups with coloured handles. They are great for cooking with kids and with 2 different shaped ends one for liquid and one for solids it also means that they can get into my jars, unlike the previous set I had.
After having to replace another broken wooden chopping board I decided to switch it up for a Marble Pastry Board which I use for chopping as well. It’s fantastic as looks good for serving too and is amazing for chopping and for the purpose that it was designed for. It’s almost convinced me that if I ever redo the kitchen I am going to have marble or similar work surfaces.
