Paper Plate Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Craft for Kids

I don’t remember a Christmas that Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer wasn’t a part of. I’ve had books, watched the movie every year (even before DVDs were a reality), made Rudolph crafts, and sang the song.

Rudolph was as much a part of my Christmas as putting up the Christmas tree.

Now, my kids are experiencing the same. We watch the movie every year (but they get to choose the time since we have it on DVD)! We sing the song, hang our Rudolph ornaments on the tree, and read the exact same book I had as a child.

Check out some of our other favourite family Christmas movies that the whole family will enjoy from toddlers upwards.

The kids and I can’t get enough of Rudolph, so of course, we had to make one more craft to celebrate or favorite reindeer, a Paper Plate Rudolph.

Equipment Needed

  • Paint brush
  • Pair of Scissors

Instructions

  • Start by painting the entire top of the paper plate with the brown craft paint.
  • While waiting for the paint to dry, cut the snout and antlers from the brown construction paper. You’ll want a large oval that’s about 4 to 4-1/2 inches wide for the snout.

  • Cut two antler shapes from the construction paper. The antlers should have rounded ends and not pointy ends. To make it easier, draw one set of antlers, cut it out, and then trace the antlers so both sides are similar.
  • After the paint is dry, glue on the oval snout to the bottom half of the brown painted paper plate.

  • Use the black craft paint to make two circle eyes above the snout for eyes.
  • Flip the plate over and attach the antlers so that they stick out the top. You can either tape or glue. I found that tape was easier for this part of the process.
  • Next, use the red fuzzy craft stick to make Rudolph's nose. Start and one end and wind the craft stick into a tight spiral. When the spiral is complete, tuck in the end so that the spiral stays tight.

  • Finally, glue the red nose to the bottom half of the snout. Press down for a while until the glue starts to dry.
