One of the highlights of my childhood Christmas and made it extra special each year was a visit to Santa’s Grotto and whispering to Santa what I wanted for Christmas each year – we started the tradition with J when he was 16 months old and took him to visit Santa for the first time at our local food hall.

Visiting Santa for the First Time

With lights flashing and Christmas Music playing it was certainly magical. I’m not sure what J remembered of the event, but come the following year he knew who Santa was so the memory must have stuck. We’ve continued the tradition each year – our favourite Santa is the one at the local zoo who has real reindeer that the kids can feed and a proper Santa’s Grotto.

Santa Visits

One day our dream is to take J and T whilst they ae still young enough to be enchanted with it to Lapland to visit Santa with the snow, ride in a sleigh and live the Santa dreams.

DFS – the UK sofas and soft furnishings retailer are making it possible for one lucky family with their Christmas Prize draw where you can win a 3-day stay in Lapland. The prize includes UK flights, snowmobile and reindeer sleigh rides, a festive meal, games in the Elves’ Igloo, and a private meeting with Santa himself!
