You’ve probably heard me mention The Patchery before – I’ve shared J’s Dinosaur inspired top and T’s kangaroo dress which she absolutely loved as “It’s so me, and no one has it but me” dress. But, what you probably didn’t get to see what the process behind it although I’m sure you popped over and had a look but I’m going to hand over to T today as we go through her process of being a Fashion Designer to make her own summer jumpsuit from The Patchery.
I can be my own fashion designer
T and I sat down together and looked over some ideas for summer clothes – she loves summer dresses and has a wardrobe full of them from pretty patchwork dresses that are now worn as a tunic top through to simple knit tank dresses but she doesn’t like that she can’t climb as easily in them so she wanted something that was a bit like a dress but easy to climb in and not trip her up.
Once she had chosen the style we talked about colours – we’d been looking at pictures on our wall of the last time my husband and I went sailing in the Caribbean and she loved the blues, peaches, the vibrancy of the colours of the Caribbean. So she settled on the Rosings Estate range of fabrics as they looked to be the most vibrant colours and really stood out.
We then spent “A REALLY LONG TIME” playing around getting the right combination of fabrics for her perfect jumpsuit for summer. Switching out the different fabrics into different places to make it just right for her.
After she FINALLY decided on her design – I quickly ordered it for her paying via Paypal and with only $6 delivery charge to the UK it’s really affordable self-designed clothes.
T patiently waited by the door for the postman around 2 weeks later for her new jumpsuit to arrive and when it did – well…. You can see it was exactly what she wanted it to be something that she could climb and play in as well as look good and NO ONE ELSE would have anything the same.
