Wrapping up warm you can still get out and about in winter and in fact we do in a family, complete with woolen hats hand knitted by my mum or crocheted by my own hands. But, despite being wrapped up we still come back cold. There is nothing better than walking in and sitting down putting your hands around the bowl off the stove and enjoying a hearty soup. So today I’m sharing my favorite healthy meat-free soups for winter.
It’s taken us a while but this year my fussy eater J discovered soups at school – because you know when it’s taste testing for a science lesson then that’s a whole lot of difference than eating at home so I’m finally able to try and test some and although I skip the cheese on his and my husband’s T and I have loved these ones so here goes our favourite healthy soups perfect for January lunches at home.

First off is this Carrot and Ginger Wellness Soup from Trinity’s Kitchen – of all of the soups that J tried in school carrot was his favourite flavour and ginger is such a nice complement to it. This is also super good for you and as you cook it the house smells amazing.
Many years ago I did Slimming World and was quite successful at it I loved that it gave you so much scope to eat healthy nourishing food this Slimming World Vegetable Soup from My Weight Loss Dream is filling and also the 8 vegetables included in it are super tasty and healthy.
Sometimes meat-free can be a little less filling and you feel that you need to eat more using grains, lentils or pulses in the soup can fill you up and release energy slowly over time keep you filled with energy. This Healthy Barley Soup recipe from Watch What U Eat is delicious and filling.
One of my favorite sites for healthy recipes that everyone in the family can enjoy is Slimming Eats and we’ve tried 3 of the meat-free soup recipes and they are delicious. I can recommend everyone – Spicy Tomato and Lentil Soup, Syn-Free Minestrone Soup and Spicy Sweet Potato, Red Pepper and Carrot Soup.
Possibly T my pink loving, cheese loving daughter’s favorite soup from the collection this Beetroot and Carrot Soup with Feta Cheese from My Fussy Eater – what really surprised me is that J ate it as well but he did discover beetroot over the summer.
My favorite soup though is tomato and the flavors of this Simple Skinny Tomato Soup are amazing from Neil’s Healthy Meals.
Garlic is an essential in most meals in our house and this Roasted Garlic and Leek Soup from Lauren Caris Cooks is brimming with flavor and is also really healthy for you.
