Frog Pond Sensory Bin for Toddlers and Preschoolers
Spring is in the air and frogs are on our minds. This cute sensory tub for toddlers is inspired by the fun counting nursery rhyme Five Little Speckled Frogs. Once set up you can use it to sing along with the rhyme, or to start learning about the frog lifecycle with your toddler and preschooler. So here we go simple to set up Frog Themed Sensory Bin for Toddlers.
Frog Themed Sensory Bin
We have included affiliate links to some of the products and resources as an associate we may earn from qualifying purchases.
We have used lots of different sensory box fillers over the years but have recently discovered Pluffle.
This is non-toxic sensory play material that never dries out.
It makes a great material to represent the water as it can be squished and moulded in your toddlers hands.
Combined with giant water beads which we’ve used to represent eggs in the pond it’s created a sensory bin with lots of different textures.
We used bath toy frogs in our set up but it would be fantastic to include a set of Frog Lifecycle Toys and use the sensory bin for when you teach your toddler and preschoolers about it.
Five Little Frogs Song Words
Whilst playing in the sensory bin it’s a great time to introduce your tot to the nursery rhyme Five Little Speckled Frogs.
We’ve included the words to the song below for you to sing together.
Five Little Speckled Frogs,
Sat on a speckled log,
Eating some most delicious grubs
YUM YUM
One jumped into the pool,
Where it was nice and cool!
Now there are just four green speckled frogs!

Equipment Needed
- Plastic Storage Bin
Materials Needed
Instructions
- Pour pluffle into a storage container.
- Cut several lily pad shapes from green felt. You can easily do this by cutting a circle and then cutting a tiny triangle from one side.
- Add a few giant water beads to the bin.
- Add a few pieces of long dry grass to the bin.
- Scatter a few rubber frogs into the bin.
- Offer the bin to your child to explore.
- The giant water beads are quite fragile, and expect your child to squeeze them! They are likely to burst, which is quite fun for little hands! With little ones that like to put things in their mouths please supervise carefully and remove the burst water beads.
- When play time is finished, remove the water beads and snap a lid on it for future play sessions.
