Egg Carton Ladybirds

With all the baking we have been doing recently we’ve been collecting egg cartons so as well as repeating our Five Little Speckled Frog Craft from two years ago with T we’ve also started some new egg carton crafts and activities – first off we’ve made some egg carton ladybirds.

How to make Egg Carton Ladybirds

Start off by cutting out the cups of the egg cup – I find that I have to do this for the kids because of the shape of the egg cartons in the UK they are quite difficult to cut – but again if your kids can do it let them. Once cut out paint the egg carton red and put aside to dry.

Once the ladybird is dry (I left 24 hours to ensure that it was fully dry) then make the spots on the ladybird with a black marker – I found that using a black permanent marker worked best.

We then added the goggley eyes and placed in pipe cleaners for the legs – to make the legs small enough I cut a pipe cleaner into half and then 3 to make six legs.

Our ladybirds have been added to our Nature Area as they are one of the bugs that we are finding regularly in the garden at the moment.
