My kids are starting to get to the age where they like to choose their own clothes rather than have people choose them for them – and both of them have slightly quirky dress styles. My youngest would happily wear a party dress with her wellington boots to dig around in the mud in the garden growing her seeds and my eldest doesn’t like to copy anyone so loves to have clothes that are him. The Patchery a design your own kids clothing company is just what they needed and we are so pleased to be an ambassador for the company and will be sharing some of their fabulous designs and ideas with you over the coming months.
This month is was the chance of J to get on designing his own clothes – we’ve always had problems with him and clothes he doesn’t like certain fabrics, stitching bothers him and some necklines and styles he gets frustrated wearing. The Patchery uses knit fabrics with a good selection of organic materials as well and in fancy prints. J set about designing his favourite style – a hooded top.
He is studying dinosaurs as the school’s topic this term and inspired by the colours of dinosaurs once he had selected his own Lightweight Hoodie design he then set up picking a fabric collection that inspired him to think of dinosaurs. We placed our order easily using PayPal and although there is free shipping in the US there is a $6 shipping fee for International Orders. However, at $46 including the shipping for a handmade custom designed item of clothing you are looking at excellent value.
As I mentioned J is a fussy clothes wearer – since it arrived – around a 3weeks from ordering it’s been worn, put in the wash and then re-worn again as soon as it’s out of the drier. And yes it goes in the drier which with the weather as it is in the UK at the moment.
He loves how comfortable it is and the fact that it has a hood (his favourite part after it having a dinosaur look to it) means that he doesn’t feel the wind in his ears which is something he hates. Plus at the moment he’s got chicken pox and it’s one of the few pieces of clothing that he find comfortable to wear.
I can’t wait to share with you one of T’s designs next month – however I know that you love a good bargain so we have partnered with The Patchery and are offering our Rainy Day Mum Readers a fabulous 15% off of the Store – all you need to do is use the code RainyDay15 when you check out to get your 15% discount (it’s not available on gift cards)
We are an ambassador for The Patchery and have received the hooded top for J to review as part of the ambassador programme.
