I may have an obsession with Christmas Craft and Recipe books – I just did a quick count up of the shelf by where I work and there is 10 that I can see easily but I do love them, the pictures and ideas and their mine (OK confession I have a slight obsession with recipe books anyhow!) A new book was brought out in August by Cico Kidz publishers Craft It Up: Christmas Around the World by Libby Abadee and Cath Armstrong.
With 35 ideas of easy to do Christmas Crafts and recipes that kids and you can do at home it’s easy to find ideas from around the world to inspire you. The Authors Libby Abadee and Cath Armstrong are keen travellers and have gathered together Christmas traditions, adapted these with simple fun crafts and recipes that the family can do together and given you a fun fact.
In the book you can travel to countries as far away as Argentina – where you dream of a white Christmas making pretty beaded snowflakes, to Denmark to make a mistletoe wreath, to Australia making Bondi Beach Baubles and Zambia to make a beautiful button bowl. Each craft has easy to follow steps with clear pictures of the vital steps so that you don’t go wrong.
Although I am crafty and find doing crafts easy we’ve tried out these ideas with my husband in charge (possibly the least crafty person in the world) and he’s been able to follow the instructions and craft and create with the kids.
If you are looking for a book to add to your bookshelf to inspire you to craft with your kids this festive season then this is a great one, as well as the 35 crafts you have some great fun facts so you and your kids can learn about the countries as you visit. It’s also perfect to dip into and out of as you create memories this year with activities in the lead up to Christmas that you can all do together.
