Learn Baby Lullaby Songs: 5 Easy-To-Learn Lullabies

One of the ways that you can help your baby to establish a good bedtime routine or even a naptime routine is by singing lullabies to them. These classic sleep lullaby songs are calming, relaxing and ideal to send your baby straight to sleep. Big disclaimer here – it’s not my voice that is amazing that sent my child to sleep – now they are older I am frequently reminded how bad I actually sing (thanks kids)! It’s to do with the rhythm of the baby music and songs as well as incorporating them into the bedtime sequence that made these work. Did you know that you can even get this routine started whilst they are in the womb! Just start singing them regularly.

And because of my voice, it’s also why you are only getting the lyrics typed out and not my singing them on a video or sound bite, no one should experience that torture unless you have to!

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Lyrics

One of the first I remember singing to them and one that I am sure you don’t need the words to but sung softly it can be a great one to start off with

Hush Little Baby Lyrics (Also called Papa’s Gonna)

I loved this song and although I tried to remember the full words I often couldn’t so would make them up – these ones below are from my nursery rhyme book which is 40+ years old so I think it is fair to say that the words are likely to be correct

Hush, little baby, don't say a word,
Mama's gonna buy you a Mockingbird.

And if that mockingbird don't sing,
Mama's gonna buy you a diamond ring.

And if that diamond ring turns brass,
Mama's gonna buy you a looking glass.

And if that looking glass gets broke,
Mama's gonna buy you a billy goat.

And if that billy goat don't pull,
Mama's gonna buy you a cart and bull.

And if that cart and bull turn over,
Mama's gonna buy you a dog named Rover.

And if that cart and bull turn over,
Mama's gonna buy you a dog named Rover.

And if that dog named Rover won't bark.
Mama's gonna to buy you and horse and cart.

And if that horse and cart fall down,
Well, you'll still be the sweetest little baby in town.

If you are a dad singing the song why not switch out the Mama for Papa and sing it for you? I think my husband used to sing Daddy’s Gonna all the way through.

Rock-a-Bye Baby Lyrics

The tune of this is very soothing and as a classic song, it’s ideal to sing with your little one as it’s stood the test of time.

Rock-a-bye, baby
In the treetop.
When the wind blows,
The cradle will rock.
When the bough breaks,
The cradle will fall.
And down will come baby,
Cradle and all.

Although if you google you will find lots of different verses added to many of these songs I used to repeat the same verse over and over again as it was the tune and the gentle words that helped relax and soothe my kids to sleep.

I’ve also heard this called Hush-a-bye Baby but we’ve always known it as Rock-a-bye Baby

Some other songs that work well for Lullabies but aren’t traditional Nursery Songs

There are a few other songs that work well for bedtime but aren’t classic lullabies. Here are a few of our relaxing baby sleep music ideas that make a great lullaby. These are also fantastic for helping kids of all ages and make perfect bedtime songs to relax them.
