The sun is shining, the drinks are flowing and the kids are playing in the pool it sounds like a perfect summer’s day doesn’t it. Then the smell of someone’s BBQ drifts over and all you can think about is grilling on the BBQ. Of all the things we enjoy the most requested has to be Burgers for our family and I love making my own, they taste better than any store-bought ones plus there are so many different tastes that you can conjuror up. So today I’m sharing with you, our favourite burger recipes for making up and putting on the grill this summer. Of course, don’t forget the buns and give our Bread Machine Burger Buns a try – it’s easy and delicious!
Getting Creative with Beef Burgers
One of our quick family suppers is to throw together some basic beef burgers and I will get around to sharing that recipe one day but in the meantime here are some classic and creative variations to make with ground beef that the family will enjoy.
This copy cat In and Out burger from Life in the Lofthouse tastes amazing – it’s really quick and the secret sauce has become one of my daughter’s favourites and she asks for it repeatedly.
My husband really likes these Pepper Crusted Burgers from The Chunky Chef but shhh I always make them in secret because of the cream I add as I know he wouldn’t even consider trying them if I didn’t.
Another of his favourites although not so much mine these Chipotle Burgers from Mexican Please have some real Latin flavours but I find them a bit too much for me.
We’ve had to find some alternatives to the mentioned ingredients in this Cowboy Burger from The Jenny Evolution as they aren’t readily available in the UK but boy did it taste good. I imagine that using the originals will taste even better.
This Smoky Avacado Burger from Joyful Healthy Eats is a taste sensation and does take a little more work to put it all together but it is so worth it. If you have some time on your hands then make up the whole thing the mayo is fantastic.
These prep ahead Marinated Burgers from Saving Room for Dessert are one of my favourites – I love how tasty these are and you can prepare them in advance leave them to marinade and then stick them on the grill when you are ready.
If you love Italian flavours then these Caprese Burgers from The Food Charlatan will go down a hit – my husband was skeptical at first thinking there would be cheese involved but no – no cheese was used in the making of these!
One of my favourites from the deli counter is Chorizo I love the slightly spicy and garlic taste of it and this Chorizo Beef Burger from Nutmeg Nanny tastes amazing.
I normally associate Brie with Christmas but this year I’ve been using it year long and this Bacon Brie Burger from Country Clever is divine.
If you know me in person you will know about my fondness for one particular drink – I like it strong and black – Coffee of course and these Coffee Rubbed Burgers from The Chunky Chef has just that hint of coffee that makes them perfect for me.
Fancy some Irish flavours then give these Irish Burgers from Food Hunter’s Guide to Cusine a try.
This is more of an every meal in one type feast but I know a few people that absolutely love it this Aussie burger with the lot from Manu’s Menu is simply delicious.
If you liked smoked flavours then give the Alabama Smokehouse Burger from What 2 Cook a try. It’s delicious and over the coals tastes even more smokey.
I don’t go very often to McDonald’s but it’s our road trip treat for the kids and there is only ever one thing that I order – can you guess? Of course, it’s a BIG MAC and this Copycat Big Mac from 4 Sons ‘r’ us is a pretty good match
How about combining your Burgers with some sweet lemon recipes for dessert
We have quite a few guests that visit that are veggies so once I have made my first basic recipe for our family I set off searching for recipes that I could make for those friends and I’ll tell you what some of them have since become some of my favourites too.
These Falafel Tahini Burgers from Natural Girl Modern World were one of the first that I tried. I loved eating Falafel when I backpacked around Egypt in my teens and these brought back memories of that trip as well as tasting fantastic on the grill.
If you like things a little spicier then give these spicy chickpea veggie burgers a try from Peas and Crayons. It’s a great recipe to use up that glut of courgettes/zuchinnis that we always end up with at the end of the summer.
Throw together a quinoa salad to go with these burgers for a healthy option
Turkey, Chicken and Fish Burgers for your Summer BBQ
It’s not just beef or veggie options that you can throw together and onto the grill there are some fantastic chicken, turkey and fish recipes to try as well. Here are just a few of our favourites.
Our families favourite from these is the Salmon Burgers from Cooktoria – we took her advice and ditch the bun but switched out the avocado and serve it with potato and Greek salad instead.
Turkey mince is really good for you and it’s easy to find in the supermarkets as well – leaner and healthier these Grilled Jalapeno Pepper Burgers from Cooking on the Weekends are a little bit spicy for me but my husband and our friends love them.
Another favourite of my husbands are these Teriyaki Turkey Burgers from Recipe Runner he says if he’s not going to eat beef then his number 1 choice would be these ones.
I recently discovered our local butchers will do ground chicken for me if I ask in advance so I’ve been trying out this Easy Chicken Parmesan Burger from Flavor the Moment – it’s really light compared to beef burgers and tastes delicious with the cheese as well.
The burger tastes delicious in this Sweet N Southern Burger from Blackberry Babe but it’s the peach relish that I keep coming back to again and again.
If you like Thai food then give this Thai Chicken Burger a try from Nutmeg Nanny – I like the hint of lime but shhh I left out the jalapenos and cilantro as I don’t like them.
Bake up some tear and share bread for an appetizer that everyone will enjoy as the burgers are grilled
