I am sure that like us, many of you reading this are trying to save money. Whether for something special like a car, holiday or to move house, cutting costs is always important. We're saving up for a holiday of a lifetime for the kids this summer and also to move in the next couple of years, so our savings account is taking a hit with the holiday but it needs to grow. Working out where we could save money was our first priority - the household bills and regular payments are our biggest outgoings each month and that's where we looked first. In the past I've switched mobile phone contracts, and we regularly change our car, house and pet insurance. However, 7 years in the house and we're still with the same energy provider for gas and electric as on the day we moved in - it was a great deal then.
With Gas and Electric charges increasing all the time, our yearly outgoings for the two were getting higher and higher - finding a place to compare the prices and save us time hunting around - because truth be told, I only know about three or four companies that supply, and instead I'm faced with more choice than I can believe.
Be an engery shopper is an ideal site. They've done all the hard work finding the deals and letting you input your details - saving you time, and then giving you the results instantly so you can see the savings that you will make. The blurb about all this switching says that you could save around £200 a year with the switch. I didn't believe it, as I remember when we moved in 7 years ago, we had the best deal we could get for our energy, and were saving so much money over our previous two household bills.

We've switched after using the site - it was easy, and do you want to know how much we've managed to save per year from the switch? £400. That's a park ticket for us for this Holiday of a Lifetime for the kids. I'm happy, and the kids (when we let them know about it) will be happy too, and when our short time energy saving expires this time next year, I will be back on the Be an energy shopper site again to find the best deal to save even more money so we can get saving to make the move from this house to our forever home.
I'm working with BritMums and DECC alongside the #PowertoSwitch campaign. I have been compensated for my time. All editorial and opinions are my own. Visit www.BeAnEnergyShopper.com for more information about switching energy suppliers.

I hate being a grown up. I hate that I have to do this. I hate that I've been putting it off for so long. I hate that this means we've been overpaying for ages. I hate it all. Really, I do. It really annoys me how confusing the sales teams make it all. So there. I'm throwing my toys out of the pram. And once I've calmed down, I'll go check it all out on this site. Did I mention that I hate doing this sort of grown up stuff?

I need to do this - I just always think that it will be a hassle.

This looks like a great site, and some good ideas here as well. Sometimes you just get comfortable with the provider you have, don't you - and just don't realise that there is so much more choice, and much better for NEW customers as well!

It's so easy to become complacent and just stick with who you're with, but we've changed recently and I was amazed how easy it was.

I always worry that I have outstanding balance that will need paying off before any switch, but this looks like a useful site.
