W is for Water
Back to Basics is back for the week with W is for Water – this series on Rainy Day Mum is sponsored by Zulily UK our favourite place to shop – this week I’ve been stocking up on flowers for the garden, summer clothes for the kids and some home items why not pop along to Zulily UK and check out what they are selling.
So back to Water – it’s so much fun, what ever the time of the year you can incorporate water into play and it’s easy to clean up and fun to play with so here’s some ideas that you could do with your kids taking play Back to Basics.
Playing in the bath
Keep your indoor water play easy to clean up and let the children play in the bath we added snow to our bath from the garden this winter and the kids loved it – a lot of fun mixing the cool of the snow with the warmth of the bath water. Of course you don’t even have to do that – splash each other, use some bubble bath and make each other look like clouds or Santa depending on the time of the year.
Paddling pool fun
You don’t need anything other than a paddling pool and some water – the kids will love it they can “swim”, splash – add in some containers from the kitchen and they will pour, fill and empty everywhere and when they empty it into a puddle you have of course got the joy of bare feet puddle splashing.

Save time, money and have fun with your tots
Puddles, what ever the time of the year (ok less so if you have snow drifts) hunt out puddles, bare feet in the summer complete with wellies in the winter and jump, kick, splash, run through them so much fun – and if you get muddy stick the clothes in the wash it will come out.
Indoor water play
Children love to imitate and what is better than imitating you at the sink washing up. Provide with warm water and some plastic cups and let them go – add in some bubbles and it’s a lot of fun, get a little bit crafty before hand and create your own mini car wash on the same idea from Inner Child Fun.
I love this idea from Mama Pea Pod – bathing baby dolls we’ve started with T recently – she bathes her baby in the bath with her occasionally – I saved her baby towels and I’m looking forward to the summer when we can get outside and bath them in the garden on those days when it’s not quite warm enough for the paddling pool but we still need cooling down a little. Happy Hooligans has a Baby Bath Station which looks perfect for a summer play date.
