How to make Dance Ribbon Wands or Twirlers for Kids

This weeks back to basics is D is for dance. I’m not talking about enrolling your child in street dance or ballet lessons at this moment in time. I’m talking about having fun dancing around.

Back to basics D is for dance

Getting dancing to some children’s songs

Yesterday I posted 10 songs to get your children moving these are perfect for getting them dancing and having fun, the headline picture is of me dancing with one of J and T’s friends whilst they watched when we were on a trip out recently. Having fun dancing with them is great you don’t have to be a brilliant dancer it’s all about having fun and being goofy.

Make some dance props and get dancing

Please check back tomorrow for my dance props for T and J – but in the mean time. You could make a ribbon wand to dance with like this one from Sun Hats and Wellie Boots

Or these original Ribbon Twirlers from The Imagination Tree.

Put on the cheesy music

Come on admit it somewhere in the back of your music collection you have a CD with the Macarena on – the Birdie Song, SuperMan Song, Saturday Night Fever. Pop it in the player and have some cheesy music fun teaching your children all the moves from your childhood (and in case you don’t I’ve linked up to those songs on You Tube just for you).

  1. Wonderful, music and dance is much neglected in our house and we NEED to do more!

  2. How fun! In our home dancing is enjoyed by all but it has been sad to see that my oldest is not carefree as when he was younger. He won’t dance in public anymore 🙁
