At the moment we’re into life cycles and with the butterfly’s suddenly making an appearance in the garden it’s the perfect opportunity to start introducing another life cycle on top of the Frog that we are already looking at on the dinning room table. We have read and re-read the Very Hungry Caterpillar and when Collective Bias™ set us the task of creative baking I thought getting creative with some cookies and cakes were perfect bakes to go with a Butterfly theme.

So with a check of our cupboards we wrote a list of what we needed to decorate

With all the snow outside and T being unwell we’ve been in the kitchen cooking some treats for ourselves with some snowmen cupcakes.

Ingredients for Snowmen Cupcakes

125g of unsalted butter or margarine 125g of caster sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence 2 large eggs 125g of self raising flour sifted 2 tablespoon of milk

To decorate

Icing Sugar (Powdered Sugar) Small Candies Raisins Half a square Cookie Water

Easy Mince Pies for toddlers and Preschoolers

One of the great traditions for Christmas in our house is making Mince Pies – no not the beef mince pies these are filled with fruit mince meat which is deliciously sticky and fruity. What you need to make Pizzas

Pizza base or packet mix (we used packet mix) Tomato puree or chopped tomatoes (we cheated and brought a jar) Grated cheese Toppings of your choice Round baking tray/pizza tray (although a square or rectangle one can be used) Olive oil Rolling pin (or coca-cola bottle/wine bottle – yes I’ve done that before) Flour (for dusting)

Chocolate Rice Crispie cakes

E and her Mummy have been busy today (wish we could go and visit) and have made some chocolate rice crispie cakes YUM!

What you need

Large bar of cooking chocolate Rice Crispies (or Cornflakes)

Mixing bowl Wooden spoon Saucepan Glass bowl Water Cake cases Teaspoon

Optional Extras: – cut up apricots, raisins and sprinkles to decorate
