Simple Learning to Read Aid

From learning letter sounds to blending them into words and reading is an exciting phase and one that we’re loving at home at the moment. J started school back in September and has started to bring back his first books with words to read in so I put together a very simple reading aid to help him sound out individual letter sounds and words as he reads instead of using his fingers (he was covering letters and words with his finger so not good for helping him get the hang of it).

Now I saw this a couple of years ago on Pinterest or a very similar idea and I’ve looked and looked but I can’t find the link so if it is your post and you’ve found it please link through and I’ll link back. All you need is a craft stick and a googley eye.

Stick the googley eye on the end of the craft stick and use the eye to look at each letter in a word and sound it out together and then blend it together (a bigger craft stick could be used for words).
