Valentines Sensory Play and Craft ideas

With Valentines day around the corner, preparing and getting activities ready for the lead up and the day is one of the things that as parents and carers for toddlers and preschoolers we have to think about. Sensory play helps children to develop their sensory processing as well as language skills, and when combined with arts and crafts, you have extra elements that you can incorporate. Here I’ve collated together some simple ideas for Valentines: love and hearts themed sensory play ideas for young children.

It’s something that I keep meaning to do and put together, but a sensory bin filled with different materials like this one from Little Bins for Little Hands has some wonderful objects included. Click across and find out the different materials that you can include and suggestions for play.

Create beautiful sensory collages with this beautiful Sensory Heart Collage From Crayon Box Chronicles. I love the 3D textures achieved combining the different materials in the collage.

Waterbeads are a great sensory play resources for those children who don’t put anything in their mouths and over on B-Inspired Mama they have a Valentines Sensory Bin with red waterbeads.

On Varuska Siva they have a sensory bin with a rice base – this site is in Slovenian but use a Google Translator on Chrome you can translate it and find out more – although the pictures do provide great explanation for what to do and how to set it up.
