Hello and welcome to Rainy Day Mum if you've enjoyed our post why not come and join us chatting on Facebook and pinning ideas for the kids and mums on A Mom with a Lesson Plan – she has just published her first E-book. Raising Creative Kids. A must read for any parent.
Full of ideas and inspiration to help you create an environment that leads to creativity – and no it’s not creativity as in your child will grow up to be the next Monet or Michael Angelo – instead it’s creativity as in can think independently and outside the box bringing ideas out of thin air that you never thought possible.
All children are creative it’s the way they are born – as adults we can “believe” we aren’t creative but when you think of the problems that have arose throughout the day and the ways that you have solved them – that is creativity.
One of the ideas in the book is to set up a creativity station and see what happens….
I set up a creativity station with some paints, brushes of different sizes and then some plain paper – but J wanted FISH – after changing the plain paper away and cutting out some fish quickly I put the creativity station down and let J get creative.
First it was painting his fish….. but then
I was asked for paper and suddenly J was painting his hands and then making hand prints – he has never done hand prints before despite me trying to get him to do them but as T was producing some great ones slapping the paper he wanted a try as well.
T finished and I got her cleaned up and left J to create – I came back and found he had decided to paint himself like the Army men we had seen recently. He mixed up the colours on his hands to just the right shades and then covered his face where he had seen the army men do it all without a mirror as he wanted to hide like they did.
Back to the book – this is one of the many ideas (not necessarily making their face up like an Army man but setting up the Creativity station) to help you raise kids within your home that are Creative.

This book sounds great, just downloaded it. Thanks for the recommendation. We are facing another brutal Berlin winter in a few months so hopefully this will give us loads of ideas.
