J has been in preschool for a week and one of the things that his teachers have mentioned is his pen control so when Parragon books asked whether we would like to review some Gold Stars Preschool Activity Books I was eager to try.
With a selection of different activity books aimed at 3 – 5 year olds to prepare them for entering Key Stage 1 these are great to work with over time with your kids at home especially if like J they like to do activity books when they want quiet time. We use these whilstI am trying to get T to nap during the day.
Initally I set him up with the book and a pencil and he started to go through the pages tgether this was a lot of fun we particularly like the Starting to write book at the moment as he likes to copy the patterns particularly the circles.
J’s favourite part was adding the gold star to the bottom of each page as he completes it.
As I have now set this up as one of our quiet time activities whilst I get T to have a nap I have brought another copy of each book and then taken the pages and laminated them added them to a folder and then whilst I’m not able to be there to go through the books with him he’s able to play at being at school using a white board marker and the laminated pages – the tracing that he’s doing on his own is going great and he’s heyyoh really good at the page above (it appears to be his favourite).
This is very much a do with an adult book for an early preschooler like J is – he only turned 3 in August but it does give us some time that we can sit together and talk about the marks he’s making and answer some of the questions.
