Olympics Medals – Simple Summer Craft for Kids to Make

It’s been 4 years since the last Olympics where we celebrated in London but the simple crafts that we created then with our then 2-year-old and 1-year-old are still going strong. These medals are an ideal craft and prize if you decide to hold your own Toddler Olympic Games or to celebrate the Summer or Winter Olympics so that they can get in all of the fun as well.

Creating olympic medals

J is just getting to the stage of wanting to draw around things so he helped me draw around a plastic cup 3 times to make our medals for our games. Once we had 3 circles I cut them out for him and drew on a rough number 1, 2 and 3.

We don’t have any foam numbers so I quickly cut out some numbers for J to stick onto the template that I had made with him. If you do have foam numbers then these would really well instead of creating them yourself. J had great fun placing them on the templates – having drawn a number he tried so hard to fit it over the top exactly.

Making our own olympic medals

We found some gold and silver tissue paper and tore that up into small pieces and then glued it over the top of our templates to create shiny medals and then left them to dry.

Once they were dry I cut around the excess tissue paper and used a pencil to create a hole in the top and then J and I threaded a ribbon through the hole and attached it for people to wear.
