Exploring Europe on a Budget

When we first had kids I could never see a point in our lives where we would be able to explore and travel the world. The thought of 2 kids on a flight for hours, screaming, not sleeping or just getting agitated because they are uncomfortable and want to get up terrified me. Suddenly in the last year they have changed or I have and now the world has opened up to us and we’re ready to explore. Being in the UK we’re just a short flight away from most of the fabulous European Cities. With regular school holidays, I’m hoping that I can take to explore our list from those in the UK like Belfast and Aberdeen to further afield such as Paris, Barcelona and Athens.

However, like everyone else, we have a budget and holidays are a luxury, but they are an item that we want to enjoy. So when we look into travelling somewhere, we make sure to find cheaper flights and adding in the cost of getting there. We then look at the accommodation and the activities that we will be doing whilst there.

Travelling to Europe couldn’t be easier with Flybe – they give us the option of flying out of two of our local airports less than an hour from our home. We’re able to get there for less than the long-term parking costs and without worrying that we will be late because of traffic. From there we have so many different destinations to choose from – after visiting Paris for our first holiday as a couple, myself and my husband agree that we would like to return. We’d love to show the kids Paris, the museums, the buildings and the culture – something so close and yet so different to our own.

With easy transport links from Charles de Gaulle airport, the 25km from the airport into the city centre is easy to navigate by train and using the Flybe website you can find hotels easily. We’d recommend staying near Notre Dame but on the opposite side of the Seine where it’s slightly cheaper but within easy walking distance and public transport of some of the best attractions.

So as I sit here with the rain pounding on the window and contemplate another dreary school run, I can dream of the amazing destinations that are at our fingertips with cheap flights from Flybe.
