Mince Pies with Ready Rolled Short Crust Pastry for Kids to Make

Christmas Recipe

One of the great traditions for Christmas in our house is making Mince Pies – no not the beef mince pies these are filled with fruit mince meat which is deliciously sticky and fruity. I made them last year with J using my pastry recipe like for the Queen of Hearts Jam Tarts, but this time I wanted to let J and T do as much of it as possible so these are easy Mince Pies of toddler and Preschoolers or The Lazy Mums Christmas Mince Pies. So here is our Christmas Recipe for Easy Mince Pies for Toddlers and Preschoolers

What you need to make Mince Pies

Ready Rolled Short Crust Pastry
Fruit Mince Meat in Jar (or if you can’t get hold of it you can make your own)
Pastry Cutters
Shallow Muffin Tin
Icing (powdered) sugar to dust

How to make the Mince Pies

We bake quite regular and J and T are used to filling up muffin tins and also using pastry cutters so giving them the ingredients I let them go to work.

J set about cutting the pastry into mini circles and him and T then placed each one in the pie tin – it was great to see the working together T would place in and J would count as they went.

Then working together they filled up the cases with the mince meat.

Deciding that they needed to have tops they tore the remains into small pieces and placed on top to for lids and then had fun pricking the pastry to make holes in the tops.
