Rainy Day Mum Monday, 14th of May 2012 at 07:00:00 AM I’m really going to try and make an effort and have a go at cooking with J and possibly T on a weekly basis. This is the food that we cooked as part of the 30 days to hands on play (day 18 of the challenge). They are Wheels on the Bus – we made savoury and sweet versions and they are VERY easy to make.
What you need to make the wheels on the bus
Some ready rolled puff pastry Tomato Puree Grated Cheese Selection of Herbs Jam or other sweet filling [...]
Rainy Day Mum Saturday, 12th of May 2012 at 07:50:10 PM It’s day 21 of 30 days to hands on play and it’s the weekend so Rainy Day Dad and J had some fun together whilst T and I took on today’s challenge
Today’s Challenge: Have a Party!
T turned 14 months this week so we had a little tea party to celebrate, we got our free gift from her magazine this week and sat together pouring each other tea. It is the first time we’ve played at tea parties but I can see it becoming a favourite of T’s as since we came in from the garden we’ve played it again and [...]
Rainy Day Mum Saturday, 12th of May 2012 at 07:00:00 AM I love sharing some of my favourite blogs with you at the weekend, and this week I’m sharing blogs that bring books alive. Reading is so important and the earlier you start reading the better, but it’s not always easy to get everyone interested in literacy – one of the ways is to bring books alive with activities, plays ideas, crafts etc….
First off is Sun Hats and Wellie Boots, wrote by another British Author this blog brings alive many of my favourite stories, I’m still [...]
Rainy Day Mum Wednesday, 9th of May 2012 at 08:30:00 PM I read today’s challenge with a bit of excitement and HUGE amount of fear
Today’s Challenge: Kids in the Kitchen
Now you may say why fear – it’s just cooking, which for me involves heat, knives and 2 toddlers who don’t know what fear is!!!! But I’m doing this challenge and that means facing the fear that I have (I know many friends would have the same fear with messy play) so I thought about what we are interested in at the moment and took inspiration from that and we cooked together. Well I helped J when needed and showed him how [...]
Rainy Day Mum Wednesday, 25th of April 2012 at 09:00:00 PM It’s Day 5 of the 30 days to Hands on Play that I’m redoing organised by The Imagination Tree and Hands on as we grow.
Today’s mission is
Today’s Challenge: Play Dough Exploration!
We LOVE making our own play-dough and since I discovered the recipe that The Imagination Tree posted for Chocolate play-dough and J turned into a fossil hunt for dinosaurs I’ve been making it for him regularly. This time though I thought we would really get into the challenge and try and make it together.
If you click the link above you will see the recipe that we use and [...]
Rainy Day Mum Thursday, 29th of March 2012 at 07:00:00 AM
Carrying on with our Easter Theme and the Virtual Book Club post from yesterday – we’ve also been baking some cookies. J’s friend came around and along with J and T we made and decorated some Easter Themed Shortbread cookies.
Now as this was T’s first go at anything baking related (she didn’t manage it though as fell asleep in her high chair before she got the dough) I decided it was best to use an egg free recipe for the cookies which meant when (notice I don’t even attempt to say if) she ate it [...]
