This week’s Back to Basics post is all aboutC is for Cars- whether they are small cars, big cars, construction cars, cardboard box cars or even ones made from your sofa cushions cars are great for children to play with.
Construction Site
A little sand, some stones and you can start to make your own construction site out in the garden (or if you are braver than I and don’t want to clear up sand for weeks in a box inside the house). It’s great to talk about lifting and loading, dumping and moving all words that go with this type of play. Plus we can do one of J’s favourite things at the moment DIG HOLES.
Cardboard Box Car
A cardboard box big enough for a child to sit in or 2 to sit in can easily become a car, with a paper plat steering wheel, some drawn wheels, a fun number plate and you have fun being a formula one driver or Daddy going shopping. Your car can have a crash and you can all fall out. This is such a brilliant idea and thanks to Mama Smiles for sharing the post and her pictue.
Block roads
Combining last weeks B is for Blocks and this weeks C is for Cars – you can make roads out of blocks and the cars can drive over them. This is a favouite for when T is asleep – if she’s awake she steals the blocks from the roads to build towers and we get arguments – it won’t be long before she’s building them along withJ though.

What great ideas, I love the brick roads.
