We are all in some way affected by cancer. I have spoke in the past about how a virtual friend of mine has a child the same age as J that was diagnosed with a brain tumor at 9 months old it has really affected me and I know I’m not alone in being touched this way. Because of the way that cancer touches our lives whether we are affected by it, know someone or work with cancer patients in different ways AXA PPP healthcare have launched a new Facebook application – a pin board which provides a place for anyone affected by cancer to share inspirational tips and practical information on coping with the treatment of and symptoms of the condition.
Designed to highlight coping techniques which may seem small, but can make a big difference to someone who is fighting cancer, AXA PPP healthcare’s new little big things pin board invites people who have been affected by cancer (be it directly or indirectly) to submit their own tips, stories and pictures. Some of these can be viewed by their YouTube channel and the advice given and coping and helping others cope is fabulous. From my own experience in with family the affects of chemotherapy are often more far reaching than what we think we know like hair loss and this tip about ice cream is spot on.
The pin board has been launched as part of a six week long focus on cancer support across AXA PPP healthcare’s social media channels, during which the healthcare company will hold a series of live, expert web discussions on the condition and provide increased levels of practical information and support on its Facebook and Twitter pages, blog and dedicated Cancer Centre.
How to get involved
Contribute to the pin board
Either through the Facebook Page or directly onto the AXA PPP healthcare little big things pin board. Anyone with little big things tips can add their own – or why not spread the support and share or comment on the tips you find most inspiring or helpful: http://share.axappphealthcare.
Join a live chat
All week from 15 – 19 September live chats will be taking place with AXA PPP healthcare experts on all aspects of cancer – from coping with specific forms of the condition, to nutrition and wellness during treatment, talking about cancer or supporting a loved one.
Interestingly, AXA PPP healthcare member Keith Hern will also be holding a live chat to discuss cancer from a member’s perspective – after being diagnosed with throat cancer in 2004 and chest cancer in 2009. Keith has written a book on his experience (entitled ‘Bangers and Mash’) and will be on hand to answer questions on treatment to the return to normal and everything in between.
