As I said yesterday the book Animal Boogie is one of our current favourites and I have been wanting to do an activity with it for a while. So inspired by Toddler Approved’s post for the Virtual Book Club for the Very Quiet Cricket to create some movement cards to go with the book and CD.
Animal Boogie Movement Cards which you can print – please click on the link in the text to download them
We have been playing this with the CD in the order that they are in the book but T is a fan of mixing it up and selecting the cards that I have printed out and getting us to do the actions – she’s trying to mimic them and causing both J and I to laugh a lot with the T versions of the activities.
I thought about laminating the cards but I haven’t got around to that yet instead I have printed onto some card stock – I ended up printing it out 3 times so that we could mix it all up and get some repetition if need be.

Zel loved the movement game from Toddler Approved for the Very Quiet Cricket. We don’t have this book but I will be printing these out and trying this movement game anyway! I can check our local library for the book

It’s a great book – the song is fabulous as well
What a great idea, I’m sure that J nd T really enjoyed it.
T has perfected her stomp – her dancing now involves stomping and twirling as well – she’s moved on from the bottom wiggle
Great take on one of our favourites! It’s such a catchy tune but never annoying…if you see what I mean!

This looks like a wonderful book.
Sound like lots of fun! I have a similar game we play in storytime using From Head to Toe by Eric Carle. We also love mixing up the actions to create crazy dances.
