Hello and welcome to Rainy Day Mum – I’m Cerys (aka Rainy Day Mum) a SAHM to 2 toddlers, J (August 2009) and T (March 2011).
As a SAHM I was always on the look out for different activities, crafts and play that would be suitable for my children to do and started to come across lots of ideas but none of them seemed to work for us so I took inspiration and adapted ideas to work for us and Rainy Day Mum was born.
In my life before Mum I worked as a Teacher and previous to that as a Marine Biologist and Environmental Educator in Costa Rica and Greece with Turtles being my main passion – see our Sticky Turtle for how I’ve already managed to get J fascinated by Turtles through activities.
All my activities have been tried and tested by J and/or T and yes they sometimes work and other times they go off at a complete tangent and what started off as 1 idea ended up as a completely different idea.
Initially based around indoor activities (it was hard getting outdoors with a tiny baby and an adventurous toddler) Rainy Day Mum has grown and expanded and now includes
- Crafts
- Baking
- Messy Play
- Exploring Outdoors
- Made with Love (Makes by us a linky with Angeliquefelix.com and Mommy Labs)
- Imaginative Play
- Getting Active
- Book reviews
- As well as the odd random posting and my own Project 366 for 2012

Quick rhubarb biscuit crumble
Ingredients
250g plain flour

Few drops of food colouring (optional)
Preparation method
1. Mix together the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add the water and oil.
2. Knead well until mixture is smooth about 10 mins. You might need to add a bit more flour or water until the consistency is smooth but not sticky. (i use my food mixer with plastic bread dough blades attached)
3. Add food colouring and knead until the colour is fully blended.
